What We Do

Sponsored Programs and Events:

Pre-pandemic, we sponsored programs such as Bell Ringers, Irish Dancers, local author book signings and book discussions, Dana the Cake Man, basic computer use and many others. We also participated in the Delaware Library Legislative Day in Dover. As we return to normal routines, we will schedule more programs.

  • Purchased a Hotchkiss Art Mobile for the Children’s Library.

  • Purchased and paid for the installation of all plantings for the island in front of the library.

  • Created the tile walls with community participation.

  • Purchased furniture for the Children's Library.

  • Purchased lecterns and audio-visual equipment for the meeting rooms.

  • Catered Library Staff Appreciation Luncheons.

  • Provided prizes for the Children and Adult Summer Reading programs.

  • Provided beverages and snacks for Library programs that we have sponsored.

  • Paid for the materials for a well-received Bear Library story walk at Glasgow Park during the pandemic. Signs were erected (like the old Burma Shave signs), and participants walked through the park and read the story.
